Face lift surgery can help to tighten the skin and improve your appearance.
The visible signs of ageing such as lines ,wrinkles and loose skin no longer have to be an inevitable part of getting old, and many people choose to reverse these signs with the help of face lift surgery.
Face lift surgery is one of the most common procedures by both men and women who want to look as young as they feel. It is performed by removing or reducing the skin that has lost its natural elasticity – usually around the eyes, mouth and jaw line – smooth the skin, reduce lines and wrinkles and get rid of that tired-looking appearance.
How does the procedure work?
A traditional face lift will involve Dr Bhatty making a surgical incision along your hairline, down past the front of your ears and into the hairline behind the ears. Because of the careful positioning of the incision, your scarring will be hidden within the hair and natural creases of the face and it will fade quickly until it is barely visible. *
Once the incision has been made Dr Bhatty will very carefully separate the skin from the underlying tissue, before repositioning excess fat and tightening facial muscles. The skin will then be lifted and stitched into place along the original incision and any excess skin removed.
Once surgery is completed you will have a soft bandage for a day only to be replaced by a face mask.
You’ll feel a bit sore, swollen and bruised, however, we’ll provide pain relief and keep you comfortable and you will be ready to go home in 24-48 hours. You should plan to take two weeks off work to recover. Your bruises should fade after two weeks, though it could be 12 weeks before the swelling completely subsides. This is when you should see the final result of your facelift.
You’ll come back to have your stitches removed about a week after surgery. If you’ve had dissolvable stitches these should disappear in about six weeks; we’ll still see you to check on your progress after a set period. We’ll give you plenty of advice on recovering at home and what to expect.
There’s no standard price for a facelift as each patient’s needs are different and you may have additional procedures at the same time. But for guidance our facelift costs start at £7,750.
