Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for the body. Also known as Lipo, it is a surgical technique to remove excess fat cells from almost any part of the body to produce a slimmer profile.
The procedure is not designed as a weight loss treatment or to tackle obesity. Before your consultation, your BMI (body mass index) is assessed to see if you are suitable. There are physical limitations as to how much fat can be removed at any one time and is important to keep realistic expectation when considering liposuction.
Alongside liposuction, liposculpture procedures are available. This procedure is an excellent way to shape, tone and contour specific body areas. Your body won’t replace the fat cells removed from these areas, so each method of liposuction can deliver a long-lasting change to your body shape. The main difference between the two procedures, is liposculture keeps and removes certain fats in the area to add muscle definition.
To discover which method of liposuction is most suitable to achieve your aims, book a consultation with Dr. Bhatty and he will talk you through the benefits of each procedure and help you to make the right decision.
A liposuction procedure takes around one to three hours, depending upon the amount of fat to be removed and can be done under local anaesthetic but more often requires a general anaesthetic. The area treated will be bruised and swollen for a few weeks and you’ll need to wear an elasticated support garment during this time.
Liposuction prices vary depending on your own individual needs; for guidance prices typically start at £2,750.
